H&R 45/70
I picked up an 1871 buffalo classic for $50.00 today. No sights. I think I want a front globe and rear tang, but I need suggestions. It looks like fun for the money.

I think you will do better with the rear site on the bbl. If google 1871 buffalo classic sights comes up. Great buy and if you load for it, it could very versitle ie shot loads. I have two rifles with full peeps and love them. http://www.americanrifleman.org/ArticlePage.aspx?id=1486&cid=5 0 -
I don't think there is enough room for a rear tang sight (there is no tang), especially with the hammer cocked. 0 -
The rifle in the photo in charleymeyer007's link is fitted with a Williams Guide receiver sight. That would be the best option for a rear, IMHO. 0 -

Yes, good score. Several years ago I bought one in same shape. No sights. I cannot remember where I found the info on the origional sights. Probably Brownells or Munrick. However, I bought them and really enjoy shooting that .45/70. Yes the origional was a globe front and peep rear. 0
