Yes, 7mm is the bore diameter and it will therefore take the same bore brush as the 7mm Rem Mag. If you could find them, they would have different chamber brushes. The 7mm Rem mag chamber is about 1/4" longer than the 7mm Mauser and is a larger diameter.
In answer to your second question, yes. Mauser is a brand name. As noted, Paul and Wilhelm Mauser started their company in the mid 19th century. Wilhelm passed away in 1882. Paul passed away in 1914. Both pretty much before their rifles saw super-worldwide fame. It became famous though as the military rifle of first, the Spanish in 1893, and, later the German Army. Along with that fame came numerous countries also adopting the Mauser rifle. To put it in a nutshell the 'brand name' is famous for early 20th century military rifles. Even though, the brand name has all along, and even today, produces hunting rifles.0 -
Thanks! I found a Winchester model 70 xtr fwt in a 7mm Mauser yesterday at a gun show. It has bases and rings on it but it don't look like it's had but 5 rounds ran through it. I had never even heard of the caliber before. 0 -
7x57mm Mauser, commonly referred to as 7mm Mauser, is the name of the cartridge, that Paul Mauser invented.
John Rigby in England got away with patent infringement, by English law at the time, using the same round and calling it the .275 Rigby in their rifles.
.275 is the measurement between the lands. Actual decimal caliber of the bullet is .2840 -

Odds are good that whatever you're shooting that 7mm Magnum out of, it uses a Mauser action. Or at least some features derived from Mauser.
Wow, I mean, I'm speechless. Well over 100,000,000 Mausers of all types have been made, and after the AK is the most produced type of rifle of all time. When it comes to turnbolt rifles, Mausers are THE standard against which all designs have been weighed. By many people's way of thinking, the out of the box 98 type action is still the finest bolt action design ever realized, 114 years after it debuted! Saying you are a shooter and that you've never heard of Mauser is like saying you're a driver and you never heard of Chevy or Ford!

What did you pay for it? I found such a rifle in a pawn shop near Canon, OH a few years ago. I paid $450 for it: I consider it one of my better buys. 0
