saw a t/c contender barrel at local shop 445 super. said 44mag would shoot ok??..looked for info and could only find load data @handloads .com. am unable to find dies--did find some casings. unable to find loaded ammo.. good or bad caliber

  It was developed for one of the Dan Wesson silhouette revolvers years ago. If you can verify it will work OK with 44 mag & 44 Special, it would be descent for hunting.
  
  Also some of the barrels actually made by TC in small quantities, are sought after by collectors. I wouldn't sweat not having 445 super brass or dies, unless your figure on hunting zombies.

  Like the 357 Maximum is to the 357 Magnum, and 38 special, so is the 445 Super Mag, to the 44 Remington Magnum, and 44 Special. To my knowledge, there was no factory loaded ammo for this, and Starline does make brass on occaision.
  
  It is a fine round, and offer's a little more than the 44 Remington Magnum, powerwise, if the shooter can make use of it. This much power does come with a cost, and that cost is called recoil. It is not for the faint of heart.

  Could the brass be made from cut down .444 Marlin?

  From John Taffins' "the 445 Supermag" before 445 brass was available.
