Winch. Model 1200 questions

Hey,

I just picked up a Winch. Model 1200, just a plain Jane field grade, for real low dough. It looks to be all original and is just about perfect in every way. Real nice. Made in New Haven, checkered stock and forearm, 28" plain barrel, bead sight.

I tried to get some info about it this morning from the Winchester historian and he says it was made by the Olin Corporation when they were manufacturing under the Winchester name. he has no info on the 1200s.

So there isn't even anyway for me to find a manufacture date through the original channels.

The serial # is: L779XXX. Anyone care to take an educated shot at the manu. date? All I've been able to find out is they were made from '64 - '81.
