Rem. 788 rifle and carbine sights, same?

Does the Remington 788 rifle and the 18 inch carbine barrel take the same iron sights?

  all the ones I have seen look the same but I never measured the height of the front sight

  There is a website which has quite a bit of info on 788 including sights. Apparently there are two different front sights, one stamped with an H and one unmarked. "H" stamped one is about .035" higher and though he guessed it was for larger, slower calibers, I think it is the other way around. My 1967 vintage 30-30 788 has the shorter unmarked sight.
