Felt recoil

Hope someone can help. I am a turkey hunter, shoot a Mossberg 835 non-ported with 3.5" Winchester 2oz Turkey Supreme shells. It kicks like a mule [B)] (this is me)....does anybody know felt recoil pounds? I shoot a 300 Winchester with 180 grain bullets and it is not nearly as bad. Also, does anybody know the felt recoil pounds for this? My shoulder would appreciated this info. I may have to Magnaport this beast !!!

  Does anyone have any experience with two or more of these handgun cal's, ref. felt recoil? Smith VXR 8 1/2" .460 ported

  ---

  Ruger Super Redhawk 7 1/2" .454 Casull

  ---

  Ruger SRH 7 1/2" in .480

  ---

  Freedom Arms 7 1/2" 454 Casull, or 475 Linebaugh. I have had several of the Casull's in the past, and they just aren't that much fun to shoot in my opinion. How much would magna-porting help" THX in advance HAWWKSHAW

  If you don't like the recoil of a 454 Casull you are really not going to like a 460 S&W. I've shot them with magna-port/brake and the 12 inch barrel version without. Either way, not something you're going to want to do very long. I don't have experience with the 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh but expect they're a little more manageable than the 460 given the somewhat lower powder charges in the loading manuals.

  I had a 460, and fired the .454 and the .460 in it. You can figure out how to manage the recoil, but the muzzle blast sucks. I'll stick with my .44 and .45-70 in my contender. I couldn't concentrate on the target with the 460.

  Remember, that if it will chamber the 460 S&W, and the 454 Casull, it will also chamber the 45 Colt. When loaded to its potential, for modern guns like the Ruger Black Hawk, RedHawk, S&W XVR, an the Freedom Arms revolver's, it is nothing to sneeze at. It is every bit a 44 Magnum, and then some.
  
  Some folks, just can't shoot a big handgun, including the Encores chambered for rounds like the 308. In that case, it is best to shoot th biggest thing, you are comfortable with, and efficient with.
