    You could probably adapt any curio shelf plan from the internet to hold cartridges. I don;t have any specific ones, but here's a website on collecting that can answer some of the questions he may have:

    Try using a board and drilling holes in it, kind of like a case loading block. You could write the calibers on the board by their respective hole locations.

    One idea is to look online or in antique shops for a printer's drawer/tray like this (usually around $30-40):

    I have made my own display boards using plywood for the back and screwing 1"x2" shelves on. You can go to Home Depot or anybody like that and get a 2' x 4' piece of plywood and as much 1"x2" as you want for shelves.
