255 Dean
I posted this topic in general discussion a short time ago. Perhaps it is more appropriate here. Have a buddy that wants to 'improve' his 25/20 rifle. Has no collector value (Marlin slide action) given the research we have done. Been looking for a 25/20 improved reamer but find the 255 Dean might be the way to go. Anybody know much about this wildcat cartridge? How about an available reamer? Please advise.

the is no way to 'improve' a 25/20 very much. you only have so much case capacity. Most 'improved' cartidges get the big gains by increasing pressure as well (read 'no red line'). 0 -
An improved case might offer less bolt thrust and allow a safe higher working pressure but for what gain in a pump action antique rifle. I would just reload 25-20 and enjoy the rifle for what it is. A 257 Roberts Ackley improved would be where I'd look for a nice 25 cal. 0
