Forehand Arms .32 w/long cyl. 1881 ??
I have a little pull pin type revolver marked Forehand Arms Company, Worchester Mass. and Double Action pat. 1881, there are no other pats. or markings but ser. # 702xx. It is a .32 but it has a really long cylinder; a .32 long fits right in but I don't think they even had .32 (S&W) long then. I found a reference on the Web about these things supposedly chambered for .32 S&W, .32 H&R and .32 M&R? I never heard of the last two and can't find any info. Any idea why it would have such a long cyl. ?? Would probably rate 'good' cond. (if you squinted). But it shoots.

1881 is just a patent date. Your gun was made between 1890 when Henry Wadsworth died and the firm name was changed from Forehand & Wadsworth to Forehand Arms Co., and 1902 when they were bought by Hopkins & Allen.
Cartridges of the World lists 1903 as year the .32 S&W Long was introduced. There was a short-lived .32 H&R/.32 M&H (Merwin Hulbert) cartridge that was longer than the .32 S&W "short" but shorter than the .32 S&W Long.0
