Colt New Frontier lr/mag cylinder question
I have a Colt New Frontier Scout .22 revolver with only the 22 magnum cylinder. Barrel is marked just .22, not 22 mag. I am assuming it originally came with both 22 lr and mag cylinders. Seller on the auction side has listed a 22 lr cylinder for the Frontier Scout (didn't specify New Frontier). I contacted him and he doesn't know if it will fit either model. My question: would this 22 lr cylinder for the Frontier be compatible with the New Frontier? and, do the cylinders have to be "fitted" to the specific revolver? Serial nmber of mine is G301XX, 1971 I believe.

they are the same frame 0 -
I had a comparable situation; bought a Colt New Frontier that had only the 22LR cylinder with it. I'm pretty sure it originally came with two but no way that I know of to tell for sure. Anyway, bought a 22 Mag cylinder on eBay and it dropped in and works fine; no fitting required. Might not be the case in all situations but worked out ok for me. 0 -
They are the same frame, but these are NOT PLUG-N-PLAY. So, yes, they do need to be fitted. The cylinder should be fitted by someone competant enough to be able to check end play, and timing. If either are out of tolerance, then he should be competant enough to adjust either one.
