Marlin 39 DOM? Takedown

I think the year is 1983.
In 1973, the Marlin system was changed by having tbe first two
dserial number digits subtracted from 100 to equal the year of manufacture.
For example: sn 17000 = 100-17 = 1983.0 -
Take down is pretty simple. The 39 was my first rifle. Loosen the large knurled knob on the side of the receiver and then give the side of the receiver a sharp rap with the side of your fist. The gun will come apart in two big pieces. From there it is easy to take out the guts. 0 -

Please note that the early 39s had a different magazine tube, and were NOT rated for the use of hi-speed 22 ammo (it will break parts of the bolt) The 39s are also a LOT more $$$$ than the 39A's.
The 39 was made 1922-1938, the 39A began in 1938. If yours is a 39 (octagon barrel, color case hardened reciever) I would make a quasi-educated guess at mid 1920s.0 -
