The most basic thing to check is the date of manufacture via your serial number. There are books and websites with this information available. Colt did not offer any handgun in stainless steel until 1982, so if yours was made before that time it is not stainless.

Actually, I did that for him and should have said so. This serial number was produced after 1982 and published factory data is woefully scant. Even The Standard Catalog of Colt Firearms devotes only two pages to the Python which is surprisingly disappointing in itself. Most data listed in those pages are photo descriptions and quotes of auction listings. There are no production dates by serial number at all. In my other resources, production dates only go to 1985 for Pythons. I know from previous research however that "KT" prefix serial numbers were shipped during/after 1991. I didn't devote time to looking further but provided OP with best resource I believe to find an answer on his own.
Colt produced several models with a "silver" finish that could be nickel plated including "Ultra-High Polished Stainless", some of which are actually roll marked as such. If they did same with all of them this question would never have posted. [B)]
The other option is calling Colt's 800 number or sending an email inquiry. They used to provide manufacture dates and original finish type over phone for free. Whether they'll still do this or not is a giant question mark and I'd love to hear the answer if anyone tries this. Having recently lost a 50 year old military contract, one would think they'd be more accommodating in the civilian customer service/relations department these days. We are talking about Colt here after all so it's really anyones guess.
