CODY LETTER QUESTION

RECENTLY RECEIVED A CODY LETTER FOR MY WINCHESTER 1897 BLACK DIAMOND TRAP. LETTER DID NOT NOTE THAT MY GUN WAS A BLACK DIAMOND TRAP, IT SIMPLY STATED TRAP. DOES THIS MEAN THAT IT WAS NOT ORIGINALY A BLACK DIAMOND TRAP. ALSO IT NOTED AN ORDER NUMBER, DOES THIS DENOTE THAT THE GUN WAS A SPECIAL ORDER?

  I am sure as soon, as Bert H sees this, he will comment on it. He spends lots of time at Cody, and also does some of the research for the letter's.
  
  Please turn off your ALL CAPS. It is considered shouting, and can be very distractive.

  "black diamond" was not a grade, trap was. My black diamonds are not denoted in the letter either.

  The black diamond was standard for the Trap Guns, and I have never seen it listed in the factory warehouse ledgers.
  
  All (100%) of the Winchesters listed in the ledgers have an order number... it has nothing to do with it being a special order gun.
  
  Lastly, the girls who work in the CFM research office are not the best source of "reliable" information in regards to the questions posed by manwinch. They can tell you exactly what is in the records, but not why something is not in them.
