A buddy of mine called me and said a gentle has a mauser rifle he wants to sell, thought it was a 7.62 caliber, all I have to go in is a serial number that begins with the letter M M33xxx, all the info I have. thats like asking me which is my favorite beer? too many variations, new or old, etc as soon as I get more info I pass it along, meanwhile guess I continue my homework,, thanks
any info on model number , etc origin etc would be helpful thanks

military or commercial...is there a crest stamp..any barrel proofs 0 -
Some of the contract rifles had letter prefixes in the serno. more information needed. 0 -
If it's stamped 7.62 than it may be an Israeli Mauser K98 converted over to .308 or nato 7.62 X 51.
Would have a star of david stamped on it and other Israeli markings.0 -

Is there a letter or number code above the "43", or does it say M-43. With the 5 digit serial and letter prefix, sounds like a Spanish M-43. Originally in 8mm or 7.92, some were converted later to 7.62. Without pics, it's a guessing game.0 -
mystery solved, not a mauser , its a soviet mosin nagant M44, top barrel 1943r below that looks NA 2274 the arrow in the triangle proofmark? over the 1943r is the russian shield M33125 is the import marking 0
