1940 dated Luger refinishing part 2
If the Luger is as crisp as you stated it's well worth the 500.
If it were mine and as it is already polished, I'd use Herter's Belgian Blue now sold by Brownells.
It's a boil method & easy to do as an amateur. It's durable provided you do a thorough degreasing, to avoid contaminating the water, and use distilled water.
In the early '60s I did a Baby Browning that was losing finish on unrounded edges and corners and wearing holes in my pockets. I dehorned it and used Herters Belgian blue. The color matches the original finish.
The gun still looks good.
The Browning was carried nightly for some years; loaded and unloaded at least twice nightly while in the pocket, a trick I can't do anymore.
