diamondback stocks

have 2 sets and 1 has the silver colt medalion and the other is gold colt medalion . what gives ,what years do they/or are they used on the colts. what i mean is when did they use the gold medalion
Does it matter[?]one gun is D21xxx, D12xxx

  Bought a Colt Diamondback .22
  Are the .22 and .38 stocks interchangable? Which is the correct medallion (gold or silver)?

  I'm not 100% sure, but I've read that the early Diamondbacks had silver medallions, and sometime in the late 70's (maybe '78) they went to gold medallions.
