Argentine Colt "Ace"
I have my Argentine 1911 "Colt" .22.lr at my smith at present with a feeding problem. Any experts out there with thoughts I can pass along? I know there were two machine shops that did the conversions, but I don't know which did mine.
Mine has a hole drilled transversely behind the ejection port on the slide, and I think I may have read that that was one of the differences in the two types.
Any help will be appreciated.

sounds like same pistol I have 22 conversion. dgfm fmap police de la buenos aires, made 1952, with hole drilled it was done my marcati, , or similar to that.should have battan bbl. I have extra slide and original slide with 22 conversion I was going to take to my gunsmith to convert over to 22, i have all the parts. DO not loose 22 mag, hard to find, hope this helps,
EDIT: found alot on info on gunboards.com raul , pacours, and castillo, are argentine gentleman who filled me in. other conversion was venturini, once conversions are done they are permanant. google search dgfm fmap argentine 1911 22lr, a 1911 forum hadd some info too.

I've never had a experience with one of them. Lots of trigger time with other .22 autos though.
Ammo and magazines,(specifically feed lips), are usually a big part of the problem. Stick with CCI Mini-Mag solids as far as ammo is concerned. The lips on the magazine have to be adjusted so they release the .22 cartridge at the proper angle as the slide goes into battery.To loose will cause a jamb with the bullet hitting the barrel over the chamber. To tight will be just the opposite with the bullet hitting the feed ramp.
Years ago I worked on a early High Standard Sport King, it had been shot so much that the recoil spring was so badly worn it was responsible for the jambing.0 -
