Bryco 380 Disassembly Question
I've got a Bryco 380 that belongs to a guy at work and it won't fire.
The correct disassembly states to remove the mag, leave uncocked place on safe and then depress the red button on the back of the slide and lift off the slide. Apparently the gun must be cocked as when I depress the red button the slide won't come off. Any ideas????

IIRC after pushing the button in, move the slide forward slightly while putting upward pressure on the rear of the slide. It should unhook from the frame and the slide will then slide off.
I do not think the entire slide lifts straight up.
Please come back and let us know how you got it off.0 -

The gun is not to be in the cocked mode as part of the disassmbly. I think this one is as it doesn't work.0 -
Try pressing it with a small punch, some of them have to go below the face of the slide to unlock. To check for decocking - ensure the pistol is empty, rack the slide to cock, check the protrusion of the cocking indicator (red button), insert an empty magazine, point in a safe direction and pull the trigger. If the cocking indicator doesn't move something is jamming it in the cocked or partially cocked position. These are fairly simple pistols, but I can't think of a way around the jam if the red button can't be moved to the unlock position. 0 -

I've tried this and the trigger does not appear to be working (there's no audible click) so I'm sure it is stuck in the cocked mode. Actually the red button is just a covering for a pin in the slide. I believe since the pin is stuck towards the back that pin can't/won't release.0 -
Try removing the grips and see if you can see the linkage from the trigger to the sear. You may be able to fire it by moving the linkage manually with a screwdriver or other suitable means.
You may find the problem there - why it is not firing.

Thanks to Peabo for the grip suggestion and to Toobig for the video showing me what the spring looks like that launched off the back of the slide ( now I know what it looks like )I was able to get it apart. Thanks again guys.[;)][;)]

No not yet, it may just be that something was binding or froze up. On an up note I did find the spring that launched itself. I'm just gonna put it aside for a day or so.0 -
Look for the firing pin installed backwards.....
