AR 7.62x39
Been looking for an AR 7.62x39. Posted on the wanted section and never got a reply----anyone know where I can get one in Kalifornia?? Need a good pig gun

Build one! The rifle is not legal in California and the only way to come close to the real item is to build one off of a receiver.

Building one is always a good idea, I think. Especially in CA, you get to pick the features you like and are legal here. I've done a dozen or so, if I can do it anyone can. You have to pick or assemble a "CA legal" AR and that basically means using a different mag release and 10 round magazines. Search "CA bullet button" for more info.
I have a 7.62X39 upper on one of mine, really don't know who made it but the difference between it working well or not is the magazine. I use CProducts, they have functioned perfectly. I use a PWRS (hope I got the initials right) brake and think it's a great combination.
You can buy an already assemble 7.62X39 AR in CA or can buy a stripped lower, or assembled lower, and just add the upper. With a caveat that some gun stores in CA still do the "AR is illegal - you'll get thrown in jail if you even ask for one" my suggestion would be to hit a few gun stores, tell them what you're looking for. If you post where you are in CA someone can probably direct you to an OK shop.
BTW, if you buy the lower at a LGS my bet is there are plenty of uppers listed on GB - they can be sent to you direct, no FFL needed.0 -
New-purchase AR's are legal in Ca, IF they are equipped with a bullet button mag release, and IF that equipped gun is loaded with 10-round or less mags. I just bought two stripped lowers over the last 3 months, from a "regular" gun store, and I've ordered two uppers for them as well. (I also have "pre-ban" Ar's as well, which can be assembled with other uppers without changing the serialized lower part) You can also get Ak's, FAL's, all sorts of "assault weapons," as long as they follow those two rules.
7.62x39 uppers are nowhere near as common as 5.56, but they're out there in internet land. If you buy one, confirm that they have the lower cap mags for hunting.
if you're in the mood for an entirely new gun, Ruger's mini-30 is also a decent bet without the bullet button release. Not as accurate as the Ar's, but shoots the same round. The Springfield M1A is also a great gun, and packs even more 7.62x51 punch.
