Hello not a direct answer to your question . BUT have seen and used Essex frames for close to 30 years . Quality is at best HIT or Miss. with pin hole location and also magazine well in the frame. I just bought 6 frames from SARCO . these are made by Rock Island not my favorite brand of pistols. But in my opinion after checking with some jigs they seem to be in spec. I will know for sure after I build some pistols on these frames. I plan on rockwell hardness testing and will only use for 22 conversion units if they are SOFT.
The price was right $100.00 but no bushings or tube installed. bushing hole was tapped.
EDIT Hello ford Six . I had also heard that the frames were on the tight side . I would in my case like for this to be true.LOL Then I could LAP the different slides to fit their frame. I am more worried about pin hole placement and magazine release hole in relationship to top of frame. some of the essex frames were unuseable with Kart conversion units. Others had magazine to slide stop pin too short so barrel feed ramp hung out into mag well.0 -
my colt conversions would not fit right on the RI frames 0
