Why wont bushmaster cycle steel case ammo, but will cycle brass???

  Chamber may be such that the polymer coating on the steel cases slows it down too much for full function. Is it failing to eject or failing to feed the next round from the mag or???

  first off, are you sure it is a 556 chamber and not a 223? my bushys all feed steel cased ammo, even the coated stuff. secondly, take a bore brush and put it on a drill. dip it in bore cleaner. run the drill full speed up and down the bore. this will polish and clean the chamber.
  
  you also have to remember that brass is pliable " soft " it will conform to a rough chamber. steel on the other hand will not give. it will stick or jam up the gun.

  I think burpfire meant chamber brush not bore brush and run it only in the chamber not in the bore.

  J-B Bore Paste would be the best choice. But, auto polishing compound will work if you have it & are careful.

  Clean her up. Mine also eats the steel case with no problem.
