Century AKMS serial number

Concerning the current Century Arms AKMS "Polish Underfolders" how are the serial numbers put on? Name of Co. and add. and SN located on bottom just ahead of mag. opening. Tho nicely spaced and lettered, they don't seem to be stamped in, I detect no indentations or raised edges and nothing traces on paper. The numbers/letters seem to consist of tiny dots. Finish seems almost like satin black paint as it mars easily even by plastic that doesn't scratch. Is there another more substantial SN hidden somewhere else? It seems just heavy wear or certainly any future polishing and refinishing would totally wipe out this number.
