A-Bolt II with 22" or 26" barrel
Looking for a Browning .30-06 X-Bolt or A-Bolt. The auction side as a few new Medallion A-Bolt with a 26" barrel. The Browning website says they are a 22" barrel. Why the difference? The box in the auction clearly shows 26" and they are 2011 and 2012 serial numbers. Really wanted one but I don't want to lug around a 26" version. Now leaning toward the X-Bolt.

I do believe that, after owning several A-Bolt's, and A-Bolt II's, that the standard chambering's are 22 inches, and the Magnum chambering's, are 26 inches. Had a first generation SS A-Bolt in 300 Win Mag, and with a healthy, but not over maximum dose of IMR 4350, it would run Nosler 150 grain BT's at 3400 FPS, and the 130 grain Barnes XLC, on top of W-W 760 at 3700 FPS...on a chronograph. It was extremely accurate, and was a deer and elk killing Machine!

I have not had the urge yet for an X-Bolt. From what I have seen, their fit and finish are every bit as good as the A-Bolt's, and their ergonomics are 3 times better than the A-Bolt.0 -

The Medallion A-Bolt II .30-06 are a beautiful gun but the 26" barrel is just a turnoff for me. I was looking at pro/con of the X or the A and the A won over with the metal detachable mag, the X has the better recoil pad and trigger (from what I've read) but the A Medallions have a better piece of walnut. I think $650 for the A Medallions is a decent price. Decisions, decisions.0
