If you want to keep your ammo good for the long haul, what type of dessicant is best for your ammo cans?

  None, store in a cool, dry place, as free from SEVERE atmospheric changes as possible; then, do not worry about it for another century or so.

  'desiccant' is an attractor for moisture not an oxygen inhibitor.
  
  Properly manufactured ammunition does not require any inert, non-oxygen atmosphere storage. If the bullet and primer are seated with proper tension the ammunition should last for several decades. But wide swings in temperature will produce the potential for some moisture which can have an adverse affect on the exterior of the cases or the powder if it seeps inside a poorly protected case.
  
  The military goes to the extent of sealing the bullets and primers for our troops to protect for immersion and environmental moisture. Military ammunition has been recovered from water, then cleaned and fired normally.

  The standard GI ammo can has a rubber gasket. When you lock the lid down, it is hermetically sealed. Keep it out of the attic- stable conditions, cool is good, and it will last longer than you will. I am shooting some ammo now that is more than 60 yrs old, it's doing fine.

  Doesn't matter. Any of them will work fine.
  
  Just keep the ammo in an airtight container (ie any standard ammo can) at normal temperatures and it will last for many decades.
