I only wipe the exterior of the case as I'm separating them from the media. It's never caused me any problems.

You might be getting a little much polish on those cases, partisan.
I dump cases into a rolling separator which allows the media to sift out. The only other operation is checking for bits of media in the flash hole before priming. If you're having to wipe polish off that would seem excessive.

The Rough will not harm anything. I load between %000 + 7500 rounds of 45ACP each year for close to 40 years . lead loads in match pistols . I replace barrels ever 100,000 rounds because of wear on lock up but groups actually are better with barrel in a barrel tester and bore looks like a mirror .

Dry tumble seems like of a lot of work. I wet tumble in a Thumlers with ss pins...1hr and all is well...

I only use mix of around 2/3 corncob and 1/3 rouge mix. Never any residue with or without polish. Drier sheets work for a lot of people who warn about only using used sheets for some reason. I am a rebel with no drier and risk just using them new.

I run a dryer sheet every once in awhile to remove the rouge dust, but I've never had any noticeable issues with rouge dust inside the cases when realoading. Make sure the primer holes are not clogged with media!

when I finish tumbling, I keep the cases in the media seperator basket and take the whole thing to the garage. A short blast with the air compressor while shaking the basket gets enough of it off to keep me happy

    I never wipe the shells
    after tumbling but one thing
I don't do, is deprime before
    I tumble.
I don't like picking the media out of the
    flash hole

Why is so much time and worry being given to case cleaning?
Why would you even want to get rouge into your barrel?
Seems like much ado about a very minor chore.
Never had a single problem from only cleaning my cases for 30 minutes in 20/40 corn.

Cleaning cases helps me see issues
    with the case.
Also ,one spends a lot of time preparing
a reload and it's nice to see the
    finished product all shiny
    for your efforts.
