Barrel twist on Mini-Mauser .223 ??
I was interested in the Mini-Mauser M-85 imported by Century Arms chambered in .223 Remington. I called Century Arms & they could tell me it was drilled/tapped for scope bases, but they did'nt know rate of twist. Do any of you Experts know the answer? How do you rate this Rifle?

the one I had was a 14" twist just as the overwhelming number of sporting rifles in 223 0 -
My mini mark X imported by Interarms has a 1 in 10 twist. Same factory? 0 -
I did the math AND it appears to be 1:12.2" too slow. I'd hope to find one with 1:9 or 1:8. What about the Savage or Stevens short actions in .223? Anyone know their twist rate, or are they all slow? 0 -

Savage comes with a 1-9" standard. But, there are 1-7" that also came out in limited numbers. I think you can still get them. Stevens is 1-9". For a short time I actually saw a few Stevens 200's come through the local Gander mountain, that were heavy barreled and had 1-9" twists. Since they don't advertise them, I would assume they are no longer made.

Sorry, I got side-tracked. All the imported mini-Mausers I've seen in .223 had a 1-12" twist. My current mini Mauser (Rem 799) in .222 has a 1-12" twist. So do the current .223's.0 -
Searched their site for the twist specs, but could only come up with 1-7 for their AK version in .223

It seems there are a number of answers, leading me to think there a number of possible twists.
Figure it our yourself. Just get a tight fitting patch, and see how many inches you have to push it in to get the rod to turn one whole turn...0
