Ruger no 3 again

Same ruger as mentioned before in .223. The Bbl band is missing the cross screw/bolt. Is this for hanging a sling swivel, or more for Bbl/stock support? Would Ruger have them ???? THX Hawkshaw

  I think it holds the band closed. Haven't fooled with one for a long time. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=8377

  It just holds the band together.

  Just pulled one to get some specs. appears to be a 4mmx.70 about
  3/4" long.
