TC G2 grip question
I sold a grip for a friend here on GB. My friend took it off of his G2 approximately 20 years or so ago and purchased a rubber after market one for the gun. He recently found the grip and I put it up for sale for him. The grip was purchased but the buyer said that it didn't fit his G2. By the way that I understand it he said that it is not recessed enough for the grip to slide all of the way onto the frame. The buyer said it is a G2 grip and looks like all of his other G2 grips other than it don't fit. I sold it "as is" but am definately willing to work with the guy. Has TC changed the grip for the G2 over the years?? Thanks.

That is NOT a G2 Grip. The G2 was not made 20 years ago, it was a Contender that was made 20 years ago. The G2, refers to the GENERATION 2 Contender, which has been out for abou 10 years now. the grip belongs to either a first generation Contender, or an Encore.

I even took the grip to a gun show and had a supposed "TC" guy look at it and tell me it was a G2 grip. [:(]Oh well I guess he'll get his $$ back and I can resell it. Thanks TSR.

That older rubber backed T/C grip fits the original Contender only. It can be made to fit the G2 frame, you have to do a little hogging out of the area where the frame post sinks into the grip, some other minor changes to the grip. I went through the effort because I shoot 45/70, 35 Remington, 375 JDJ and a few other harder recoiling cartridges and that rubber bladder is the best thing I've found for absorbing recoil but keeping with a mostly wood grip. 0
