luger holsters
Were the black hard shell or flap holsters for the PO-8 German luger
all marked with stamps on the reverse side? I was looking at one at a sale that is(well) worn enough that it looks original and has the take down tool included.I looked it over throughly but there is not a single stamp or manufactures mark.The owner claims his relative brought it back after the war.Were they all marked? Thanks

Anything is possible. Without the kraut Waa's, identification & manufacturers markings, it's just another holster though. If you can pick it up at a fair price go for it. Definitely wouldn't be buying it for big bucks without the proper markings. 0 -
And, you probably want to be sure that the loading tool is stamped with the waffenamt.

Without the correct markings as shown in Neal's photos, $50 would be questionable to me.0 -

You have to be careful as there are many repros out there. I would run the stitching under a black light to see if it is syn or real. Real deal P08 holsters go for rather good bucks...depending on condition, of course. $50 wouldn't get you within smelling distance of a real deal Luger holster. Tread carefully.0 -

The way the Germans managed to stamp acceptance marks on everything, but toilet paper sheets, I would be very leery of something as significant as a P.08 holster that wasn't marked. 0 -
I'd like to help, but Bender's book on luger holsters sells for $300 to $500 so I can't even afford the book to know if what I'm buying is good or a repro. As others have said, there are lots of repro luger holsters on the market. Just go over to GB and search. There are a couple of people in east European countries who are making holsters for FN 1922s and a couple of other models using the original patters and some of the original equipment. They look great but they also look new. A lot of folks have been passing them off, or trying to pass them off, as original and I've seen them at gun shows for anywhere from $100 to $400. Best advice so far has been the black light, but also keep in mind what my wife used to say--"If it's too good to be true, it probably is!" In short, if you don't mind ending up with a repro holster and a lesson, then go ahead. 0
