Hi Karl, I dont know if you will rember(I can hardly rember yesterday) I had a thread about a Luger convereted to cal. 22. It was Dec. 08, Spider and Bigbore Fan found the old treads for me,I have discovered a book about Lugers that describes this pistol (Or at least one like it).Take a look at my last thread under 22 cal. Luger see if it jogs youre memory. Thought you might like to read the info I took from the book. Unfortenly (SP) the photos have dissapeared from that old tread. Hope you find this information interesting. Thank You.

Thanks for the heads up I will try to find your thread seems like many things have changed when it comes to advance searches I cant seem to do very well when web site change. I wish the webmaster Geeks would leave things alone. EDIT HEY HEY I must be learning new tricks I found your 2008 post . I never did see your pictures of Unit but I have a Mauser Banner 39 pistol . > It seems to me the most probable explanation to what you have is a one off master gunsmith conversion the later Lugers with coil spring recoil spring would be easy to modify with a light spring to function the toggle with only the small recoil developed by a 22 rimfire . One could then make a 22 barrel from scratch. The extractor could be made to have a longer Hook. and then it seems to me a good machinist could drill the face of the toggle to work with a custom made striker to function off center to the chamber of the barrel.This leaves one more item that would need to be changed The Magazine. I have a DAY conversion unit for a 1911 type pistol .It takes a standard 45ACP magazine and uses an INSERT that you just slide down inside a standard 1911 magazine . The day functions great with this kind of insert. All of this would not be easy but I feel it could be done. The tooling we have today is so much better then years ago I feel a good guy that could program a CNC 4 axis Mill could make all the unique parts for such a project as well as modify the parts that are original to the gun but just need some machining / modifying0 -

Hello tandmtiggerplease look at my posting on this subject . on your other post. Can you get more detailed pictures on the frame cut[?] I might have a donor luger to try this on.
EDIT Sorry HEDOG I should have put whom my comment was directed to . Really the pictures don't show much some just a outline of the general shape nothing detailed Macro in focus. I still believe that a German gunsmith looking for work AFTER WW II took a GI captured Luger from occupational U.S. officer and modified this pistol . IMHO the German Government in 1939 would not have spent valuable resources in dire conditions to build a Training pistol by destroying a 1939 9MM luger. . It is an interesting piece as an oddity .Again value is MUCH more on a documented FACTORY Rare piece then one, no matter how skilled the gunsmith was modified a factory gun.0
