For what little you will gain, it's not worth accellerating the wear on a nice revolver, providing it is in the shape as described. @30 grains of WHIP ARSE, at 850 fps, is more than the original 45 LC offered.

Might be sufficient reason to look for a good 1911 style auto. You can't ever have enough.

Don't push your luck with the old 1917 Colts. Nearly 95 years old now. Saw one with a blown cylinder and top strap years ago, supposedly just using standard loads. Personally I figured it to be a double load of Bullseye.

    Thank you Gents,
I was offered a free box of 45 +P's and this is the only pistol I own that will fire the 45 ACP round.
You are right, not worth the possible damage, Thanks again.

I could use a box of .45 ACP +P ammo, if you are giving it away.

Considering the cost of +P defensive type ammo compared with plain jane ball, I'd just stash them back and keep an eye out for someone with ammo more suitable for your old shooter who's willing to trade.

You could turn those 50 free rounds into even more.
