There are many Top Break older S&W revolvers Can you fire this pistol by pulling the trigger "DOUBLE ACTION" or do you first have to manually COCK the hammer then get the hammer to drop by pulling the trigger. [?][?] Is the rear sight adjustable or Fixed [?][?] Does it have a normal trigger guard or a spur trigger.

editLooks like a Model 3 single action they made a bunch of different models even some 44 RIMFIRE all are made before 1900 but may have originally sold after 1900.

I am having trouble uploading my photos. You have to cock it for it to fire. The back sight is fixed. It is on the release of the top break and it looks like a normal trigger guard to me. I will continue trying to send the photos. Thank you WTB

I believe Wyatt Earp used a S&W top break to go against the "Cowboys" at the OK Corral.....

It appears to be a New Model No. 3 single action. Complete patent dates should read 1865, 1869, 1871, 1875 and 1877. These were manufactured in various calibers (.32 S&W to .455 Mark II) and barrel lengths ( 3 1/2" to 8") from 1878-1912. However, as all of the frames were actually made prior to 1899, they qualify as antiques under Federal law.

Thanks very much for the information and also getting the pictures on here. Actually my daughter-in-law did the pictures for me. I could not make it work. I still don't have this computer perfected. Thanks again.
