Winchester Model 94 30 WCF (1943)
What I have here is a customers Winchester Model 94 30 WCF (1943). I don't know anything about them really, so I'm hoping you folks could help me give this gentleman an answer to what condition it is, and possibly a value. I have some pics here to share. Any help is greatly appreciate, once again. [:D]

Cosmetics is always a big deal to collectors of vintage Winchesters. Unfortunately the left side of the receiver seems to have surface rusted, probably due to improper storage. The mottled appearance is brought, about when the rust is cleaned off with a abrasive. Due to the camera angle and lighting it's hard to say if any deep pitting has occurred due to the rusting.
Probably would be a high dollar 94. Specially given DOM during W W II. The appearance pretty much kills it though. If the pitting isn't all that deep, more than likely would be a good candidate for restoration.0 -
Looks to me like it would be a good candidate for an engraving job.

I agree with rufe. With the scraped up stock, and the pitting on the left side of the reciever, you are looking at a possible 50% condition. You have a possible $400.00-500.00 shooter.
As for the year it was made, we will need the whole serial, except the last two digits to give you an accurate time slot. Chances are, that if you aged it from the Blue Book, it is a bouple years older than it's guestimate.

I am no real expert but here goes. It is not possible that this carbine was made in 1943. The total production for model 94's in 1943 was 0. The serial number to be made during WW2 would be very close to the following. 12-41 to 8-45 ser # 1,305,000 to 1,345,000. total production during those years very close to 40,000. So 12-41 to 12-42 total = 29,000. 1-43 to 12-43 = 0. 1-44 to 12-44 = 13. 1-45-to 8-45 = 8,800. That is as close as I have been able to find. My guess from looking at this carbine is 1947 or later. 0 -

Please post the full serial number and we can tell you when the rifle was manufactured. The left side condition of the rifle kills the collector interest. If the rifle were a 1947 vintage rifle it would have a flat surfaced forward barrel band and it does not.

Definitely not a 1943 vintage, as none were made in that year. There were only (13) made in the year 1944, so that to is unlikely. I suspect that it is a pre-War production Carbine, but it could be a 1945 or very early 1946. The serial number will tell the story.
In regards to the condition, the left side of the receiver frame is lacking, as is the butt stock. I would grade it at 60% overall.0 -
Thanks for the information folks! Here's the serial number. 13452XX It's a shame the right side of the gun is decent, the left side, well you can tell by the pics. I'm curious as how the heck the left stock got so chewed up! 0 -

The left side pattern reminds me of damp wool damage. The stock looks like unprotected scabbard damage from rubbing on something. 0 -
