Trench Gun Bayonet Lug

I have a Winchester Model 12 trench gun. The bayonet adapter appears to be original to the gun but the bottom flange is too thick to accept a bayonet. I have several M1 Garand bayonets and none will fit. The bottom of the flange has heavy machining marks so I'm wondering if maybe it just didn't get finished properly. Thanks in advance for any comments.

  Yep, Garand won't work.. Read Charlies link, then have at it..

  try a u. s. m-1917 bayonet; that's what m1897 trench guns took.

  Yep, WWI weapon designed for the WWI bayonet. Looks great with it on it!

  Yep x 2 ...The 1917 bayonet fits both the '97 & the 12...
