Arminius hw357 help
There's a revolver at the pawn shop that looks clean but is missing the iron sites. It's an Arminius hw 357 and there asking 225$ I don't know much about them or if its worth the purchase

Imported from W. Germany in the 1950's & 1960's. I believe that they were made by Herman Weirauch. Serviceable, but not a high quality revolver. Most were .32 & .38, but .357 was introduced not long before importation stopped in 1968. I would only fire .38 spec in a .357 gun.
Complete & in working condition, probably a $150-200 gun. Lacking parts, maybe worth $50.

I agree with Neal; even complete you are looking at a $150 pistol. Numrich may have the sights but the purchase and installation cost will likely not be worth it on this particular pistol. 0 -
IMHO I would not touch an Arminus 357 with a 10' pole. At the range, I have seen problems to include the sights falling of from the recoil of the gun, a cracked forcing come and major timing issues.
When they were available, you could buy several for the cost of one S&W, Ruger, or Colt.0 -

That gun is NOT made from a good grade of steel. Light loads are in order. Better value can be had from a used Smith and Wesson or Ruger in .38 or .357, and won't cost all that much more than the asking price you quoted. 0 -
If you look there are good used older S&W, Colt, Ruger and even Taurus revolvers you could find in that price range that parts are easy to find and the guns are made a lot better than any Arminus. 0 -

IMO, definitely *NOT* worth the asking price. As mentioned, build quality on these is just poor.
Once you throw in the amount necessary to fix the rear sight, you're in for at least $250 and for only a tiny bit more you could have an excellent used double action Smith and Wesson or Ruger that will last forever, and appreciate in value over time. Plus should you ever have a problem with a Ruger or Smith, the company will stand behind you.
For example, surplus Smith and Wesson models 65 in 357 magnum are still available at about $300 and they're stainless steel, have smoother actions than any Arminius, and parts and accessories are cheap and readily available. Ruger Security six in 357 are also available in that price range and they're solid built guns.
If you want a cheap "off" brand DA 357 take a look at Dan Wesson. Very good guns, American made, and those can be found in the $250 price range sometimes.0
