Question Re: Rem 870 Express
I have a Remington 870 Express, 12Ga., serial X216130M. The barrel is marked *12 GA. "Use 2 3/4" or 3" in Magnum Recievers, Use Only 2 3/4" In All Others". I've had it for a number of years but have never put anything but 2 3/4" shells through it. The instruction manual that came with the shotgun does not specify wether or not this gun will/will not handle a 3" shell. My question is: Does the "M" at the end of the serial # designate that this receiver will handle a 3" load or would "Magnum" be specifically marked on the receiver?
Thanks in advance for any guidance offered on this subject.

Yes the M says it's a mag receiver. 0 -
Thanks Charlie, I appreciate your help. 0 -
All 870 Express shotguns, with the exception of the 28, and 16 gauge, handle 3 inch ammo. The ones marked super magnum will handle 3 1/2 inch ammo as well. My being is that if you cant get it done with a 3, then it doesn't need doing. I will qualify that with outside of water fouling, where you are using steel shot.
