Help with a Remington Model 81 Scope Mount

I recently purchased this Remington Model 81 seen above and was looking to purchase a period-reflective scope and rings. Can anybody help me identify the mount? There are no markings, and as you can see it is a side mount.

Also, would like to purchase an insert for the Redfiend peep site. Any ideas where to begin this? I have looked around myself, but I can't find anything as of yet.

  Good call for echo. I was in Ed's shop before he closed. I might have some echo stuff that was handed down to me.

  Looks like a "Echo" mount to me. Herkner who made them has been out of business for years.
  
  Probably a dealer in vintage rings/mounts, or fleabay. Would be your best bet.

  Your scope base is indeed an Echo, as rufe-snow indicated. I have one on a Springfield. If you keep looking you should be able to find rings for it. I'm not sure, but I think those 81's ejected straight up and, if so, you'd need the scope to be off-set. Your Redfield sight is a #102 and inserts should be easy to find. Your local gun shop, if they do any puttering, will probably have a few in their parts boxes.

  Yes, scopes must be off to the Lt side or the case will hit when it ejects and difficult to load. Also Williams made side mount sights for 8 & 81. Most I have encountered have Williams installed.
  
  IMHO, these rifles are better w/o scopes. Peep sights were a popular add-on in the 8/81 days.
