Winchester 23 value UPDATE
Gun sold for $4700.00 + BP & 6% sales tax. I dropped out @ $4200
just a little more than I was willing to pay.
Every year on New Years day our local auction house has a special auction of unique & unusual items. This year one of those items is a Winchester Model 23classic, in 28 gauge. I have already inspected this gun & it is flawless, unfired and in the original case. My question to those more experienced with winchesters than myself is what would your maximum bid amount be? Keep in mind there is a 10% buyers premium, 6.5% state sales tax, & $15.00 transfer fee.

I sold a model 23 classic 8 years ago, when I first started selling on GB, for $2500. The shotgun was just like what your looking at, new unfired, in the luggage, it was a 12 gauge. The 34th Blue Book says the 28 gauge, in the condition you describe, is worth $5400.
I am not really well versed in current Winchester SXS market values, and I don't know how bad you want this shotgun. But, if it where me, I'd bid a little north of $4000 and se what happens.

Thanks for your reply, the 4K figure is about what I had in mind considering the add ons. I would very much like to have it as it
would make an excellent quail gun. And yes, I would be purchasing

Yes, thanks for letting us know. I'm with Charlie, I would have thought you could have bought it for your $4,200.
They are a very nice double, I'm not sure they're a $5,000 double.

Hey Clays the one TOAD 67 points out looks like a great BIN price if close to the one that sold much higher . I like the wood much better on the one Toad gave item # on only thing Is If I was going to hunt with a gun I would want a 98% gun like the one shown as the trigger gold wash shows some wear. This can happen in just a few times being handled . I like 98% guns as a 100% nib you worry about putting one tiny scratch with this one you could hunt with it with care and keep well oiled ant it would still be 98 % years later down the road.[^] But and this is a BIG BUT it is 12Ga. not a lighter faster 28 Ga. 0 -
If you want yourself a nice little quail gun, grab yourself a CZ Ringneck SxS. They are on a petite frame, and very nicely done. You can get into one for about a grand.

Thank you for those comments and the recommendation. Toad, that is a very nice gun and if I were in the market for a 12 gauge, I would use the buy now. I currently have several 12s an just cannot justify another. My current and most favorite quail gun is a Benelli Legacy 20 gauge. Just thought that model 23 in 28 gauge would have been a fun shooter. 0 -
Pretty gun for sure, and a great gauge! 28 is by far my favorite!
If you're in the $4000.0+- market, maybe keep your eyes open for a Parker Reproduction 28 double. Probably a little more than that 4K but maybe you could get lucky. They are fantastic little guns!
If an O/U can satisfy your needs/desires, a Browning Superposed 28 will be just a little north of that $4000.00 figure.......Good luck, Ed0
