How can I get the manufacture date on a Smith and Wesson model 36? Serial # 20XXXX

  You might need one more digit to get a year.
  
  added: cut and pasted "I have the current(3rd) edition of the Standard Cat. of Smith & Wesson, and their serials list 1957 117770-125000,and then pick up again in 1962 w/295000.So,1960-1962 would probably be the right time frame, as was mentioned."
  
  You need more help than I can offer.
  
  Are these the numbers from the butt or inside the crane?
