Probably the best way to find one is to Google gunshops in the area and ask them about gunsmiths

Another old fashion way is to look in the Yellow Pages of the telephone directory under Guns and Gunsmiths.

I know you're looking for a recommendation or volunteer but that may be asking a lot from Asheville...

Try calling Baity's Gunworks in N. Wilksboro NC 336-667-8785. He might be able to help or steer you to a gunsmith

Although I've never had any work done at Baity's Gunworks, they do have a good reputation in this area. Their shop is just a few minutes drive from my house.
