    have a s&w hammerless, breakdown, single trigger,nickle plated,32cal. gunsmith believes first edition.5 shot cylinder. ser.no.3963. anybody know value? fair condition, shoots. thanks! catchbigfish

    No & I don't know.

    You failed to post photos for us & you didn't give us the SN of the gun. You also did not measure the length of the cylinder. So, all we can do is guess.

    The -1 revision was on the J-frame (rather than the I-frame or improved I-frame), so, theoretically it's possible that someone converted it to .38 spec. I think it's more likely that a M36 was mis-stamped.

    I think the 30 was a 32 S&W the 31 was a 32 S&W Long

    I think the 32 and 33 were 38 S&W.

    And the 33 was a 5 shot 38 special was't it ? Sounds like a mis-mark.
