Savage 23A Magazine question

Does the knurled knob on the bottom of this magazine serve any use other than to use when removing from rifle?

  I don't know if it's the same set-up, but the old Mossberg magazines had a rod with a similar knob that screwed up into the magazine and acted as a .22 short adapter.

  I think it is just a pull down knob. Nice pic's. Have you checked to see if it does anything?

  I have turned it both directions with no apparent change.
  It doesn't work like the Mossberg short adapter either..
  Hard to find workmanship like this example today.
  That was the good old days...

  On the 23A, it's just a pull down knob.
