Pre 64 model 70
I have a pre 64 model 70 in 25 ackley mag.The gun is in very good cond. Any help on value would be great.

I have a '61 .264 and a '59 Varmint .243. Both have the origional plastic butt plates like you describe and both are slightly undersize. I don't know whether the plates shrink or the stocks swell over time. 0 -
I have a few laying around, one or two without the tip, but they may be that small size you mention. 0 -
I also have a 1960 vintage 264, the butt plate is a bit under sized.

Winchester, in relation to the buttplate all of their firearms, and/or the recieverss on lever actions, the butt stocks, and/or forearms are made on the "proud" side. Proud is the term used to describe a fit when one of the two mating pieces is larger than the other.
If you ever come across one being described as being in "original condition", and the stocks are undersized to the reciever and furniture, buyer beware!

I need one that is 5" lomg, 1 5/8" at the wide point and 3 3/8" from screw to screw center. Thanks, Hunter 706 767 44020 -
I'm having trouble getting Photobucket to work so I'm not presently able to show a photo of the buttplate, but it measures 4.88" long, 1.6" wide and 3.4" between the screws (center-center). the top screw in angled down, similar to the buttplates with the spur and the checkering pattern is the same pattern with the V at the top and the diamond at the lower screw hole. Let me know if this will work for you, in the meantime, I'll continue to see if I can get Photobucket going. 0 -
