Single stage press?

I think its a leverage issue. You might make a plate from 1/4 or 3/8 steel to move the mounting holes closer to the edge.

RCBS makes a metal plate that angles the press so you can mount to the edge. I have one and it works well. Great press, had it since '64 and just upgraded to a Redding Big Boss II so I could swage.

Do you have a link to one?

    No that is not it.

Maybe they don't make it anymore since mine was from the '60's. It was made specific for the Jr. press and angles it up so the lever arm does not hit the flat table edge. I packed the press away until I decide to sell it (I want to use the Big Boss for about a year before I sell my Jr.), so I'll dig it out and see if it has a model number on it. I didn't buy it with the press, I bought it with a "lot sale" of reloading equipment, but I know it says "RCBS Jr." on it.

    Will advise.

I have an RCBS JR2 atm & I don't like how it has to mount so far over the edge of my table to use. Is the any other single stage press's that can mount closer? This press needs 3-4in clearance to work right.

This is the base plate you need,

It appears the newer plate will work, but it's not like mine (wish I could upload a picture, but it appears to be to complicated for me).

Mine says RCBS "JR" and fits perfectly to the bottom of a Jr. press. Table end starts at 3/8" and press end is 1" thick. It tilts the press back so the lever arm will clear, also makes it easier to hold the brass. The press mounting bolts fit right thru the plate slots.

I tried to find one on the net, but could not, so this must be quite old since I got it used back in the 60's. When I get ready to sell the press I'll list this alone since it appears "rare" (aren't they all when we go to sell them).

You could easily build a wedge like this with Aluminum.

    Best of luck.

I'm just gonna buy a new turret press. I'm hoping the little lady buy's my excuses for getting a new one.[:p][;)]

I have seen those aluminum wedge RCBS adapter shim blocks. I think you could fabricate one out of hard wood like oak. I would hold yo to most reloading operations, maybe not case forming or bullet swedging. Hope the new press works out. Merry Christmas.
