Rem 1187 special purpose with
"cantilever scope mount". 12 Ga. deer gun with Leupold VX-II 1-4 scope. Has 21" brl. and shoots both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. Can't find much about this firearm! Neighbor has one he is selling. Says he has $750 in it and got it new in 1989. Nice looking and in excel. cond't. Anyone know anything about this model? Thanks

Neighbor lady has one. I think Bubba cut it back due to a stuck wad issue. Anyway she hated the gun because she couldn't hit anything with it and it was a jam-o-matic.
I made a 3/8 ramp and put a bead on it. This brought the sight plain up to height to a straight edge laid on the receiver. I took it apart stoned for burrs plus cleaned and lubed.
It would now cycle better than 50% of the time with the IMHO crappy estate shells. She can hit things and it's 100% with my reloads. Hers might be a sportsman model.0 -
Got my son one a couple years ago,,I really can't find any fault in it-It shoots and when he has used it, no problems--Maybe neighbor got a lemon or maybe I lucked into a good one- 0 -
I have a duck hunting buddy back in Illinois that encountered so many jamming problems he sent back to Remington 2 times. still a glorified single shot. 0
