GOT WOOD! How to price it?
A buddy passed and his wife gave me a bunch of his stuff the kids did not want. The guns are gone but he did have 3 nice wood gun stocks that I now have.
One is for a Remington 700 SA. It is in good shape with the sling lugs, butt plate and grip cap. I think he re stocked the gun with a synthetic and this is the take off. No cracks, breaks or damage at all but light scratches from normal hunting use.
Next one is for a pre 64 Winchester Model 100. I am not quite sure about this one as it appears to never have been on a gun. It has the grip cap and butt plate and very crisp hand checkering he might have done himself. Very nice piece of wood but I can't tell if it is an original Winchester made stock or possibly one he made or had made but I do know he was learning checkering years ago and did some very nice work.
Last one is a Winchester Model 100 pressed checkering post 64 original take off in very good shape and has the sling loops, red letter grip cap and butt plate. No damage, dings or dents but appears to have a poorly applied finish that I would certainly remove and refinish with True Oil.
I don't have a clue what any of these are worth or what I should list them for but I am sure there are guns out here with broken or cracked stocks and these could be the fix.
I can post pics but am not sure they want the threads loaded up with lots of photos.

The easy way is to list them at $.99 and let the market determine their value. Works for Locust Fork. It does you little good to list them at a price at which they don't sell. 0 -

I think you are right He Dog with a BUT!
The Rem. 700 take off might be a fairly common stock because a number of after market stocks can easily be found for this gun.
Where we differ is with the Winchester stocks. I know of no after market stock makers producing replacements for either the Model 100 SA or for the Model 88 Lever guns. I just found two additional take offs for the Model 88, pre and post 64 guns. She thinks he has some more and will let me know when she gets to cleaning out his shop.
I can certainly be wrong here but I suspect finding a good usable stock for the Winchesters might be a tough order and probably rather costly.0 -

An original decent pre 64 model 100 stock will sell for around $300.
I gave up looking for one and sold the gun, as the firing would hammer the top recoil plate and chip the wood.
Before selling, research model 100's and see if the factory checkering
matches your stock, you may have an original unused stock.0 -
