what can you tell me? It is polished nickel ,great condition with gold hammer, trigger, cylinder release and cylinder pin. Lanyard ring is missing, source? Low serial #33xxx. US markings and "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and is 45ACP. Would this have been a presentation and if so wonder if I can find out to who?

  It was made for a US War Department Contract 1917-1919. It was originally blued with a 5 1/2" barrel. A subsequent civilian owner (who we generically call "Bubba") cut off the lanyard stud & plated some of the parts.
  
  While it was the property of the War Department, it could not have been "presented" to anyone, as it was not legal to give away US Property. If Bubba acquired it after it was surplused & presented it to someone, we have no way of knowing to whom.

  The lanyard ring was removed properly so if I can find one that can be fixed. The nickel looks to be very high quality and must have been done long ago, it looks great but I don't have any way to post a pic.

  The ones I played with shot really well. I don't enjoy half moon clips so I'd be looking for some 45 Auto Rim brass to load for it.
  
  Be careful with your choice and use of solvents. Ones with ammonia can eat the copper flashing layer between the steel and the nickel casing it flak.
  
  Bubba doesn't always do poor work.

  Thanks for the help, won't be shooting it often so the clips are OK for me, too big to carry lol. It did surprise me that it was blue to start, the nickel is flawless, action smooth.
