    While the wrench (7113308) is called or referred to as the receiver/barrel wrench it is ONLY used on the receiver. Look at figure 92 on page 122 (TM 9-11776) and you can see the barrel in a vise and the wrench ONLY on the receiver. If your receiver has the removable recoil spring tube put some solid rod in that location to help support this area so the receiver will NOT get crushed. Not a difficult job as barrels are not breeched as tight as some rifles. Make sure the wrench you get fits YOUR receiver, very few real ones most are after market.

    I recently sold my set. The barrel is actually a U-shape and you tighten the barrel vise around it and then put the assembly in a stationary bench vise.
    The action wrench is then used to tighten or untighten the receiver to the stationary barrel.
