converting Ruger sp101

How or where or is it possible to get a Ruger Sp101 rechambered to 327 magnum? How expensive can I expect this to be? Thanks

  Ruger actually made one in 327 Federal Magnum, and that is what I would l0ook for. S&W offered them too, as well as Taurus. Stay away from the Taurus...nothing but trouble. I personally, would look for one on the auction side in either the ruger, or S&W.

  If you must have one made from a SP-101, in another caliber, them Hamilton Bowen, of Bowen Classic Arms, is your man for the job...it will be at least $1K.

  Those are certainly bringing a premium. I would consider a .38/.357 loaded with .38special. Or a birdhead griped Vaquero in .327.
  
  Edit: there were SP101s that had enough cylinder length to handle both .38 and .357. My proposal was to use .38 special as a lower cost alternative to .327 mag.

  There were a number of SP101 .38 Specials rechambered to .357 Magnum but ammo choice was limited due to cylinder length.
  
  So if the OP has a SP101 in .32 H&R, it could probably be rechambered to .327 Federal; but it would pay to check cylinder length vs OAL for the hotter cartridge.
  Hamilton Bowen lists the job for $125 but doesn't say on which model.
  
  If the OP has a .38 or .357 SP, it would be very expensive to change even if he could find somebody to fool with it, which is not likely.

  Problem is, I have a LNIB Sp 101 in 32 H&R magnum that I would like to convert to 327 magnum for my main carry gun.

  Ruger builds so much extra strength into their firearms I don't think you would have any problem with a re-cut of the chambers. This would be a LOT cheaper than trying to convert a .38/.357. The .32 H&R will chamber and fire in a .327 Fed, as will .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long.

  I just need to find a gunsmith that has the tooling and desire to preform this conversion for me. Looks like a very versatile round for me.
