Stevens .22 question
Folks, what would a mint Stevens .22 be valued at with a serial number of 106 in today's market? Friend has an opportunity to purchase it and doesn't want to overspend. Thanks.

Anywhere from $50 - $500 .....need model number for any kind of guess 0 -
No model number available. It is stamped Stevens "Marksman", Mass. USA on the receiver, is a lever action with serial number of 106. Seller is asking $250. 0 -
As the previous posters noted, much more information is required for an assessment of potential value.
Quality photos would be best for accurate identification and valuation.

I don't know specifically about the way Stevens serialized their guns? But some manufacturers back in the old days, batched numbered their guns for assembly purposes. The number on the Stevens, might not be a sequential serial number?

EDIT #1,
Flayderman's Guide has the "Marksman" identified as Stevens rifle #12. A inexpensive "Boys Rifle", dating to the early 20th Century. Value would depend on condition. Likely being used by kids and being a hundred years old, most are in pretty thrashed condition. If it's factory original and in Very Good condition. Might be worth that kind of money.0 -
So is it a repeater or a single shot? Likely if it ever needs parts you will be making them. For that kind of money I'd be looking elsewhere. Maybe a takedown Ruger 10-22. I really like the all milled steel of my Remington 121 or Winchester 1906. 0 -
If it is ORIGINAL not refinished then Price would be fairly good If refinished at any of its most likely 100 year old life then price is too high. Hands on inspection ONLY way to really tell. 99% chance it has been refinished 0 -
The Marksman is an under lever break action.

That would most likely be a good buy if at least 90%...in original condition.0 -
Thanks all for the fine help. I was a fish out of water on this one.[8D] 0 -
If it original finish that would be a good deal for you. Marksman is actually one of the better Stevens boys rifles. 0
